PROBABLY MORE RARE THAN THE RECORD 5000 SG MODEL. THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC AMBASSADEUR 6500CT IS TRUELY A GREAT COLLECTORS ITEM. The ones that have survived the test of time are likely to be few. Many of the reels would have been used for salt-water fishing and most would now have perished. There is no accurate record of how many of these reels were produced, but the survival rate is probably quite low after all this time.

You will not find this lot number on any other six series reel. All had their own distinguishing lot numbers, the 1976 model being 760401. It is certainly one of the most popular reels ever produced by Abu.Only limited numbers of the reel were made, some in 1974, 19. market and was produced by popular demand from long distance casters and anglers.The 6500 CT soon became the most popular tournament casting reel and long distance fishing reel during the 1970вЂ™s and 1980вЂ™s and is still regarded by many as the best all round reel.All the great pioneer long distance casters used this reel to achieve distances in excess of 250 yds. In late 1974, Abu made the first production Ambassadeur 6500 CT.The reel was only made for the U. Please see the clear pictures that were taken in daylight. The Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000 has had the longest production run of any levelwinder, past or present, and according to the factory in Sweden, approximately 4 million red reels of the 5000 design. There are no scratches or corrosion, but some brassing to the bottom of the reel foot where it was mounted on a rod. The reel has been lightly used by one owner, but was never used in salt water.

Everything operates correctly and the gears are smooth and quiet. The reel being offered here was made in 1976 and is exceptional condition for a reel 30 years old.

You will however find this model listed in the U. and you will not find it mentioned in Simon ShimomuroвЂ™s book 'Ambassadeur & I' That is because it was never sold in America. I have been collecting Abu reels for nearly 30 years and had the opportunity to buy a few of these models many years ago.This model is almost unknown to collectors outside the U.
